Illness Strikes Again

We were both sick with a flu like illness at Takamatsu on the island of Shikoku. Now as we approached the city of Hirosaki, Aomori Prefecture on July 27, 2012 some variation of cold or flu attempted to knock us out again. This time Yayoi was hit first and hardest. We seldom if ever got flu in Winnipeg, yet somehow we are not immune to Japanese diseases.
In Takamatsu I was the hardest hit and spent at least 24 hours convalescing with the care of our hosts, the Hirano's.
Trust Yayoi to become sick just as we entrust ourselves to our hosts in Hirosaki, both of whom are physicians. About 24 years ago they spent a few years in Winnipeg where Soroku was on a research exchange visit. Soroku is quite busy with medical research into diabetes, and frequently flies to Tokyo for presentations or conferences and flies back late the same day. Noriko is running a private clinic with the help of her daughter as receptionist. Noriko took good care of Yayoi and took me on a grand tour of a number of sites on Saturday afternoon, after spending the morning in the office. She could not be convinced that she might be tired after working. None of us are getting any younger.
